Buko Halo

If ever you come to visit the Philippines, don’t go back home without tasting our famous dessert called Buko Halo. Buko means coconut and Halo means mix. This is actually a variation of another dessert called Halo Halo or literally means mix mix in which all different ingredients, a blend of fruits, sweet preserves, evaporated milk, and shaved ice are mixed together. This is frequently topped with a scoop of ice cream. Buko Halo is actually Halo halo BUT with added scraped coconut and the mixture is put inside the coconut shell. Fruits and sweet preserves include jackfruit, sweet palm fruit, purple yam, plantains, corn, coconut gelatin and pounded dried rice.

Hmm… doesn’t it look yummy? This is a great treat especially during the hot summer times here in the Philippines.

I love to travel to see new places, faces, eat different food, hear different languages and dialect and simply to experience CHANGE from my normal everday life! Enjoy the journey with me as we take a walk from my neighborhood to flying wherever God allows us to go.
