Cagayan de Oro City is also referred as the City of Golden Friendship is located at the Northern part of Mindanao. This city is quietly booming as more establishments being built and more investments being put up. Here are a few of the city’s famous landmarks.
Gaston Park – was named after the first Mayor of Cagayan de Oro, Segundo Gaston; It is located near the Saint Augustine Cathedral and Archbishop’s Palace and the Cagayan de Oro City Hall. This park was the center of town when Pueblo de Cagayan was first erected in 1624. This plaza served as the training ground for the local revolutionaries who were preparing for the Phil-American War in 1900.
Saint Augustine Cathedral– Saint Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral is the home of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. Every 28th of August, Cagayan de Oro celebrates the feast of Saint Augustine, now known as the Kagay-an (kä-gī-än) Festival.
