Do You Have Charter Digital?

I've heard that Charter Digital subscribers are given free access of over 2,000 movies and shows. Their subscribers are also able to view their favorite movies and shows according to the time of their choosing. If they love reality series and action series like Heroes, Office and the like these are also available just a day after their shown in TV. So, subsribers of Charter Digital will never miss any of their favorite shows.

With this great offer from Charter Digital, I could only wish that they're available in our country. Who wouldn't want a free access to movies, shows and more movies? I'm sure the kids will also be happy with Charter Digital because they won't ever miss their favorite cartoon show that's only shown during school time. As a Mom who wants kids to finish their work before watching TV, I would also be glad of this option to schedule their favorite show during their free time.

So, that's why it's nice to have a Charter Digital. The TV shows or movies are shown according to your schedule and therefore you won't have anything to miss. But since I don't have Charter Digital now and it's not available yet here in Malaysia, all I can do is to inform those subscribers on Charter On Demand that is Free! Free! Free! If you want to learn more at charter.net/ondemand or better yet get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page.

Searching for Cheap Flights

Since we are going to the Philippines next month, we are on the lookout for promo fare and cheap flights. We've already been to all the airlines' sites that flies to the Philippines but to no avail- no promo fares nor cheap flights. :(

Last week, Cebu Pacific actually had a promo fare but at that time we were still undecided to go because we didn't have the go signal from our leaders yet. And by the time we were already certain of our trip, the promo fare has already ended. Sad..sad..sad.. but on the other hand, we also found out that we could actually go to the Philippines earlier than expected so, it was still a blessing that we haven't booked our tickets.

Anyways, I think we have no choice now but to book our flights tonight. I'm also quite apprehensive that if we don't act fast, the rates might shoot up as the peak season is already coming. May God bless our trip. :)

Of Philippines' Election and the Internet

The Philippines will be having the National Election on May next year. I'm still not so sure how many people are running for presidency next year but I already have my choice. :)

And speaking of Elections, I've just read a very interesting article on how the present president of the US, has maximized the use of the internet for him to win the US Elections last year. According to Google, by election time Obama dominated the web with 250% more awareness among Internet users than McCain. Obama has really foreseen the power of the internet and has even met Marc Andreessen, Netscape founder and Facebook board member, asking for tips on how to utilize social networking for his campaign.

His campaign efforts through the internet was truly proven effective but cheaper too. No, he didn't buy some ads from the internet but he has built a large fan base who generated buzz in their spare time, for free. For this reason, the vast majority of Obama’s Internet traffic was organic—the result of powerful word-of-mouth campaigning.

Anyways, The study of Obama's use of social media during the 2008 Election is called as Obamanomics. Anyone who has a business or runs for office can use the same technique and method that Obama used to gain more popularity and fans.

Going Back To the Philippines

It wasn't part of our plan to go back home at the end of the year. But after my Mom had an operation, we had this desire to go back but didn't have the 'means' to do so. But a day after expressing our heart's desire, a 'way' was provided for us.

Though that 'way' is still to be grasped and sealed with so much prayers, but we believe that through faith it will be fulfilled. :)

So, now we're excited to go back home, see my Mom, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews and relatives. THough this time our trip will be short but it is my prayer that it will be a fruitful and memorable one. I'm excited!

Curious..

As I've posted previously, I would love to have a 'serious', professional looking travel blog but I just don't have to time to concentrate and build on it. But I'm curious to know if getting your own webhost would really be advantageous to a travel blog like mine. I know that it would have a lot of advantages for business sites or big organization's sites in terms of space, support and other features but would it also be an advantage for a small blog like this.

So, before I decided whether its an advantage for me to get my own webhost or not, I'm browsing through a site that shows the top web hosting companies. I found out that there are webhosts that are quite affordable with unlimited disk space and date transfer with less than a minute wait time for tech support. Hmm.. cool huh?

I would also love to hear from bloggers like me about their experiences with their own webhost and how webhosting has helped them in their site, especially for blogs that are powered by Blogger. If you are one of them, I would be most pleased to hear from you, your experiences and opinions. Thank you!

A Serious Travel Blog

As I've visited other travel blogs lately, I was impressed by most of the sites. Their pages are just full of beautiful photos and helpful tips and information of different places. I was equally impressed by the amount of research that the writers must have done before writing the posts perfectly. How I long to make my travel blog like that. It's really my desire to my this travel blog a 'serious' one with more of a professional feel. :)

But then, I just don't have much time to do extensive research to provide a vast of helpful information on every place that we visit. All I can do for now is to post our travel experiences and share some amateur photos. Maybe if I have more time and if I've honed up my photography skills then I'll think of recreating this blog to become a 'serious' and professional travel blog. Since this blog already got its own domain, then I might also think of getting Managed Web Hosting to get extended support and all its other great advantages.

But for now, this travel blog of mine is more of a personalized one that is openly shared to a few readers.

A Glimpse of Nepal

My Hubby just came from Nepal early this month. He had a lot of stories to tell and photos to show when he came back. Hearing from him and seeing from the photos I can't help but 'wish' to go to that beautiful country with its beautiful people.

I would be sharing more stories about Nepal next time but meanwhile here are a few of the photos he took during their trip.

9 Days to HK

I can't believe that it'll be another 9 days before our most awaited trip to Hong Kong. I say much awaited because we've booked our tickets for this trip as early as February this year. Airasia had this Zero Faro promo and the fares were just so low that we couldn't resist.

So, the 8 month wait is over and now it's only another 9 days! Wow! It's just now that reality is sinking in. I have to make the necessary preparations for our trip and pray and pray that a miracle would happen within the next few days .. ;)

Not Your Regular Tour Guide

Tour guides come real handy when you have a good budget and you don't have much time to explore the new place by yourself. As we all know, the ideal tour guide must be very knowledgeable on the place where we are going, must be fluent with English and easy to get along with. But have you ever wanted a tour guide that is also neat and well groomed. Of course, we don't really specify that when we look for our tour guides but then, somehow we would prefer them to be neat and well groomed too right?

Anyways, I've just come across a press release about a study that reveals that those who are well-groomed are more likely to succeed in their work than those who are not. The Gillette Career Advantage site is dedicated for this topic and they even have Gillette Resource Center for those who are interested. So, I guess that's how I was able to relate how clients would prefer the people whom their dealing with to be well groomed. So, the same with the case of our ' tour guide'.

Back to the study commissioned by Gillette, the result shows that more than 90 percent of HR professionals place more importance on being well-groomed than even a firm handshake. Being well groomed projects self confidence, being organized and interested with the job. Expensive suits or clothes are not a pre requisite to update your look but even a clean shaven face will do the job.

So, I guess that explains why we prefer our tour guide to be well groomed, aside from the fact that it's always pleasant to deal with people who smell good and look good.Justify Full

Scenic Sunday- Sukhothai Thailand

This is Wat Phra Phai Luang, one of the old temples that can be found in Sukhothai Historical Park in Thailand. This is a Buddhist temple but it's interesting to note that it also has some Hindu influence looking from the design of the it.

Sukhothai is the first capital of Thailand formerly known as Siam and the ruins in this park date from the 13th and 14th century.

Souvenirs

A souvenir is usually small and relatively inexpensive article kept, or purchased as a reminder of a place visited or even an occasion.

We were not so keen on buying souvenirs for ourselves during our past trips. If ever we buy some souvenirs, they are usually to bring back for our families or friends. In Thailand, the choices of souvenirs are just vast. Well, if you're on a budget you can still buy some nice souvenirs from Elephant Keychains, bags , letter holders and other what not. While here in Malaysia, it's more difficult to find cheap souvenirs, that's why I just end up buying some perishable items for family like coffee and chocolates. Their chocolates are actually much cheaper here compared to the Philippines especially if they are on sale.Justify Full
But just lately, my Hubby and I started a collection of souvenir caps and t-shirts on the places we have visited. And so far, my Hubby has got caps from Camiguin, Philippines, Chiang Mai Thailand, And Nepal. As for our shirts, so far we only have Myanmar and Nepal. I'm excited on how our collection would go. But I think we have to broaden our collection a bit by asking people who go on different places to buy caps and t-shirts for us too as souvenirs too :). We're not very particular on the quality of the t-shirts as long as it's not a blank t-shirt but the name of the place or country is printed on it.

And speaking of t-shirts, you may one to start a business selling souvenir t-shirts because I've found a site that sells t shirts wholesale. They actually have a wide variety of blank t-shirts. So, if you're artistic enough you can print these shirts sell them and make a business out of it.

Scenic Sunday - Boh Tea Plantation

It's my first time to join this meme and I hope that through this I'll be inspired to take beautiful photos of the things around me.

The picture above is taken at the Boh Tea Plantation in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia. The view of the plantation is just awesome especially when you can see that the plants have different shades of green. It's like the mountains are covered with a huge, soft, green carpet.
