Every year, the city of Hatyai hosts the famous, Lantern Festival at the Hatyai Municipal Park. This year, we had the opportunity to see the lantern displays once again. The theme for this year’s festival is quite interesting as they featured the different lanterns all over the world and that includes the lantern in North East China where you have to go inside the Hatyai Ice Dome as their lanterns are ‘ice sculptures’. Anyways, the lanterns for this year are also beautiful and the display I liked most was the floating lanterns on the lake. The kids also loved the kiddie wonderland where it looked like a mini Disneyland. But, compared to the other years, I think, I find the previous displays more grand and more beautiful. But still, visiting this year’s Lantern Festival is worth going. And by the way, admission is free ( except for entering the Hatyai Ice Dome) and this runs until February 28, 2010.
