Elephants on the Street

One thing that I like here in Thailand, is that you'll never miss an opportunity to meet a real elephant. They will just be walking around town with their guides and caretakers.

You then get a chance to feed them by buying the 20 baht food that the caretakers sell. On the other hand, it's also quite sad hearing the stories of these Elephants and their caretakers. You see the Elephants need hundred of kilos of food everyday and we are not sure if they are truly nourished properly. The caretakers had to feed themselves too as well as the elephants.

Intermission - Writing Ideas

I haven't been updating this blog as much as I can. I've been quite busy with my other blogs as well as my other online work. We haven't been traveling much too. Our last trip was in Cameron Highlands early this month and I guess we won't be doing any travel for a few months.

To keep this blog updated, I would have to find some interesting places here in Hatyai and I would also have to browse through my old travel photos because I'm sure I've missed to post a lot of things from our past trips. And if still, you don't find me updating much then it means, I must be experiencing 'writer's block'. Seriously, if you have a lot of blogs and a lot of writing tasks at hand, I'm sure this would be a common experience among all bloggers and writers alike.

Unlike us, students would have an easy way out as they can always ideas for a research papers. Like for example, they need to write a term paper on war, they can always ask help from other people and write about the Cuban missile crisis essay.

Anyways, why am I so off topic now? I better get some 'writer's rest' first. :)

Art Exhibit in Lee Gardens

Last weekend my daughter and I had a chance to see the Art exhibit of the the Fine Arts students from Thaksin University, Songkhla in Lee Gardens Plaza, Hatyai.

We truly enjoyed our time as we viewed the creative works of art of students using different art mediums like copper, cloth, beads, acrylic and other kind of materials.

Here is a sample of their paintings and sculptures:

On CheFoo Center and Camping

We've just arrived from our conference from CheFoo Methodist Centre at Cameron Highlands. Our conference went on very well and the people who organized it have chosen the best location and accomodation - CheFoo.

Our room in Chalet number 3

The CheFoo is 210-bedded resort is located 1,542 meters above sea level and enjoys cool climate with temperature no higher than 20°C and rarely falling below 10°C. Cameron Highlands is home to Malaysia's tea, vegetable and flower growing industry. The centre is sited on six acres of land amid surrounding hills and greenery forest with complete privacy of its own, just outside Brinchang town and 5km from Tanah Rata.

It has rooms for dual, triple or quad capacity. They have dorms that can accomodate 6 to 12 occupants per room as well as rooms and chalets. Facilities include an assembly hall / Conference hall, meeting room, Dining hall, Library, Basketball court, Volleyball court, Futsal Court, Tennis Court. They also have a big soccer field which can actually be made into a camping ground. But I'm not sure though if camping is allowed there. But when I looked at the huge ground, I was so tempted to get some camping gear and start camping.

It's been quite a while since I've gone on a camping trip. I remember that I was only a teenager when I went on a camping trip with my family. I could share a few family camping tips such as 1) you must never to forget those mosquito repellant lotions 2) you must have a comfortable sleeping mattress 3) you must have enough food and water 4) you must never forget to pack matches and torch lights.
Anyways, back to the CheFoo Methodist Centre, this has just been newly renovated and it's really a very nice resort centre that would not just be ideal for conference and seminars but would make great and affordable accomodation for family retreats too. My Hubby and I have already planned to bring our family there for our family retreat for next year.

Excited for Cameron Highlands

Tomorrow's the day when we will be going to Cameron Highlands! Yehey! We're not really going there for a holiday. I guess it will even be busy days for us there since my Hubby is helping out in the preparation of the conference. But I love the scenery and the weather there. It's cooler and a very peaceful place.

I would love to visit the Boh Tea Plantation again and have a cup of ' teacino' and a piece of scone. That place is just awesome! I wonder if we will be able to go there.. I hope so!

The Heat Is On

It's almost summer time in Thailand. And as what my friend wrote in her status message in Facebook, " the weather is already changing from Hot to Hotter". Well, that is true. Summer time is the hottest season in Thailand and temperature could rise up to 40 degrees Celsius. I hope it won't got higher than that because it will then be so uncomfortable for everyone. I can't even imagine myself going out under the hot sun in the afternoon with the glaring sun. But one thing that I have to remind myself before the summer time begins, is to buy myself a nice pair of sunglasses. I'm fed up buying the very cheap, 59 Baht sunglasses because I end up getting nauseous with them. Hopefully, there will be cheap but very good quality sunglasses available at the malls either here in Malaysia or in Thailand.

And speaking of cheap but quality things, I know for a fact that Zenni eyeglasses are. They are known for their quality prescription glasses and even got great reviews from very satisfied customers. So, is it possible to get quality glasses at a very low cost? It is, with Zenni! Check them out!

To Cameron Highlands We Go

We'll be going to Cameron Highlands this Thursday. We're actually going for a conference there and I'm excited. Aside from meeting friends and getting new insights from the conference. I'm excited to be in a cooler place. It has been very hot for us in Thailand and even the city part here in Malaysia. I still have to check what's the temperature like up there in Cameron but I'm sure it'll be much cooler here in the city.

I wonder if it's convenient to go up the mountain by van. I heard that the road going up there is quite winding and narrow. It'll be best to go on a 4 wheel drive like a pick up truck. But with the unpredictable weather, it'll also be safe to get a truxport or extang truck cover to protect stuff at the back of the truck. But on the other hand, it's still advantageous for us to take the van because we will be bringing a lot people and things with us.
