Medical tourism in Thailand is getting to be more popular. Over the years, Thailand has tourists visiting the country for the purpose of medical procedure. Like in 2005, it has been reported that 1.28 million expatriates visited the Thai hospitals. This in turn has generated an income of around 33 billion baht in that year alone. Now, that’s a big chunk of money for the tourism industry and I’m sure the present statistics are now higher.
Many of the patients come for radiation therapy, plastic surgery or complete diagnostic imaging though they also cater to other common procedures like appendectomy, herpes treatment, tonsillectomy. I’m sure countries in the west find that the hospital costs are much lesser here compared with their countries and not to mention that this country has superior service.
