Songkran Festival 2011

February is almost at its end. All the schools are wrapping up the end of the school year and getting ready for summer break which starts on the 1st or 2nd week of March until the end of April. Of course, everyone is excited and getting ready for Songkran Holidays.

This year, the Songkran holiday is quite long since it falls on the 13th to 15th of April which is from Wednesday to Friday plus the weekend. So, all in all it’s a 5 day holiday. Wow! For those who are not familiar with the Songkran, it’s the Thai New year in which they celebrate by splashing water on everyone. It’s a fun celebration in which you’ll see everyone with water guns or pick-up trucks carrying steel drums full of water to splash on everyone they meet.

We might not be here for the Songkran festival. We want to take advantage of the long holiday by going to Malaysia for my visa. Hopefully, we can do a side trip to someplace too while we’re there. 😉
