Cagayan de Oro in Progress

I come from Cagayan de Oro city, Philippines and have lived there for more than 25 years before coming to Thailand. Indeed, there is no place like home and I wish I could visit my hometown every year. As a way of updating myself with my city’s progress and development I have subscribed myself to a site that gives updates about our city.

With it’s constant flow of posts and updates, I’m amazed with the amount of development that’s going. New establishments and buildings being built. Famous brands ( like Lacoste, Marks and Spencers) and franchise businesses ( like Starbucks) are slowly coming in. I’m even quite amused that some people from another big city in Mindanao are commenting and asking why some big companies choose to invest in Cagayan de Oro and not in their city. Oh, I also don’t have an answer for that, but I suspect the investors must have found the city worth their money.

Well, I’m just glad that our city is booming. Progress and development would mean more jobs are being created for the residents. I’m sure there are a lot of positions like management jobs available now, may it be office management jobs or facilities management jobs.

Here are a couple of photos showing the landmarks of my city:

  1. pls take a look on how stupid is the drainage project along Masterson's going SM along XU property. There was an open canal BEHIND the Mahogany trees that was being constructed with RC pipe culvert. The "good" contractor then embanks filling materials to hide the pipeline and worst, they are seemingly going to construct a barrage…. FOR WHAT?

  2. Hi, we do have the same situation. I also was born in Cagayan de Oro but my family migrated abroad 10 years ago. Last year, I visited my grandmother in CDO and I could not believe how much Cagayan has improved now. Several buildings and establishments are already standing in my homeland and I am proud of it. I wish I could come back there every year too.
