Hat Yai City has been the gateway of South Thailand. Many of the visitors here are mostly in the city to go somewhere else like the islands on the Andaman Sea or to continue their journey to Singapore or Malaysia. If people come here for a visit, they primarily go for food, shopping or entertainment.
So, a friend who has been visited us here a few times asked me, ‘What’s new in Hat Yai?”. I couldn’t really answer much since it seems that she has seen almost everything during their few days stay like shopping at the night market, visiting the floating market, going to the Ice Dome, seeing the lantern displays ( from November-February each year), going to Songkhla and sampling the local delicacies. But even if there’s really nothing much new in this city, but it seems people still come back because it’s just a nice city to visit. Food and travel is not so expensive and the people are very pleasant. I think I’m not only speaking of the city per se but of the whole country as a whole. It’s no wonder they attract millions of visitors per year and flights thailand are almost booked all throughout the year.
So, what’s new in Hat Yai? Nothing much, but I’m sure if you’ve been here before you will still have a pleasant visit every time you come.
