Whenever we go on a road trip to Malaysia, we never miss stopping by at the Burger King outlet at the ‘jejantas’ R&R nearing Kuala Lumpur. I love the burgers at Burger King and they don’t have any outlets here in south Thailand. I remember seeing Burger King in Krabi and Chiang Mai airport but I found it too expensive! With the set meals in Malaysia, BK’s ( and even the rest of the fastfood chains like McDonald’s and Pizza Hut) really more affordable there.

Anyways, so there’s my Whooper Jr. … looking at this now just makes me drool…

Our daughter loves listening to music. Since, we can’t afford to give her an iPod, we thought of giving her an MP3 player instead for her birthday.

It was quite amusing when I shopped for her gift. I went around the shop several times looking for the MP3 player, but I couldn’t find any. Instead, I saw all the latest iPads and tablets. After searching in vain, I finally resorted to asking the salesperson. Fortunately, he brought be to the corner and there was the MP3 player places beside the USB broadband. Hmmm.. that’s why I didn’t notice that earlier. He then told me that this is the last MP3 player that they had. Yes, there were no other brands to choose from , not even a color to choose from. It was only then that I realized that MP3 players are definitely nearing its end! lol! It’s a good thing though that we got the last unit. I don’t know what I could have gotten for her instead. She won’t appreciate getting savarez guitar strings at Guitar Center yet since she’s not so much into playing the guitar for now.

But anyways, even if the MP3 gadget seemed almost obsolete, our li’l girl was still so happy with her gift.

But

OTOP ( One Tambon One Product) Fairs used to be so common and a big event a few years back. But lately, it seems we don’t see a lot of these events much. I like going to OTOP Fairs since I get to see the variety of products from different villages and provinces. Not to mention the fact that they also sell their products a lot cheaper compared with those from the malls. Products ranging from burlap table runners to food delicacies are being showcased during these fairs. I wonder when there’ll be another OTOP fair. I hope it’ll be soon!

There weren’t any announcement made earlier during the day. As I was going to prepare for dinner after my class, the electricity went off. Power outages are not very common in Thailand, if they do have black outs, it usually just last up to 30 minutes to an hour. But tonight seemed to be different, our neighbor told us that the main power station has some major problems and it didn’t just affect our city but the whole southern provinces as well.

Kids were sweating and getting restless. What could we do without the fans to keep them cool, lights to make them read their books, tv on standandmounts tv stands to keep them entertained or computer to play their games. After playing with the candles for awhile they got bored and seemed to be clueless on what to do. So, I just asked them to buy some snacks and we all gathered around the table, talking and eating. After awhile, we let them take a shower and all cuddled up in the bed telling stories, giggling and laughing. And time passed by ‘fast’ and the next thing we knew the power came back. Whew! And we thought that it was only 9PM but found out that it was already 11:20 PM!

We’ve passed the ICT area a lot of times. I’ve seen the big ‘ferries wheel’ and the lights from afar but never thought of going there until last week. It was actually our family friends’ idea to visit that place. And at a spur of the moment decision, we immediately got ready and went straight to ICT.

It really looked like a fun place to be. It had a lot of lights, rides and attractions. They even had a waterpark but since we went there at night, we didn’t bother to see the place. We only let the kids have some rides and went inside the Dinosaur land or Prehistoric Adventure. The kids enjoyed their experience there. As for me, it was okay. There’s nothing much special about the place and maybe it’s a good place to go if you don’t have any other plans for the weekend and have a few ringgit to spend. It’s not really a ‘must see’ place in Malaysia but just a place to let the kids have some fun.
